My Story

**Pauline stays with her mother and siblings in a brick baked house given to them by Pauline’s Grandparents from their father’s side. Pauline’s father abandoned his family 5years ago in Kampala accusing the mother of infecting him with HIV/AIDS. And now, they are staying in the village on their Grandparent’s land since they could not afford the urban life. Pauline’s mother fries pancakes and half cakes and also sells vegetables like tomatoes, onions on a small stand staged next to their house facing the road side but she doesn’t earn much out of the business since she has to buy food for her children off the profit she makes. Pauline also helps the mother to sell stuff on the stand when she comes back from school. And, Pauline’s older sister studied primary seven 3 times and couldn’t graduate due to lack of school fees and now she is 16years old working as a maid (house help). She once in a while sends them money to buy food at home.**
