My Story

My Home Life: My name is Magadha Mildah, and I am the grandmother of John. We live in Kamuli village in a one-bedroom brick house. John has two sisters and one brother. At home, he helps by fetching firewood and washing utensils.

His parents separated, and I took him in because his mother had no means to care for him. I try to support the family by selling snacks such as sambusas and pancakes by the roadside near a neighboring school. However, I earn only about 2,000 shillings ($.57) a day, which is not enough to meet the basic needs of the family.
