My Story

My Home Life: I am the last-born in my family and live with my mother, Nalunkwama Fatumah, and my two brothers. We stay in a single room in Bunangwe village. My father has another wife and family, and he does not provide any financial support or check on us.

Irene is a disciplined child who respects me and other elders. At home, she helps by washing utensils, sweeping the compound, and mopping the house.

My mother moves around the village washing clothes for other people and earns about 5,000 shillings ($1.43) a day from this work. However, this small income is used to cover our basic needs and try to keep us in school—but it is not enough. That is why we are in need of educational support, so Irene can continue her studies and have a chance at a brighter future.
