My Home Life: I live in Ishongororo village with my Mother, Father and siblings. My Mother’s name is Nabakoza, Florence and my Father’s name is Nyarugaba, Surviral.
My responsibilities at home are fetching firewood & water from the well, washing utensils and sweeping the house and compound.
My parents are peasant farmers who grow crops like maize (corn), pinto beans, sweet potatoes and cassava (root tuber) on a rented piece of land for both home consumption and to sell. They can for example harvest two bags of maize (corn), each bag weighing 100kgs, sell one bag at 50,000 shillings ($14.29) & leav one bag for home consumption. My parents also harvest two bags of beans each bag weighing 100kgs from the season, sell one bag at 50,000 shillings ($14.29) and leave the other bag for home consumption. The rest of the crops grown are only for home consumption.
My parents work so hard to grow crops in the garden for both home consumption and to sell but the money they earn from selling some of our yields is not enough to even pay for basic needs at home which is why I need a sponsor so that I can continue going to school.
