Hearts & Hope
My Home Life:
I am the 7th born in my family, living with my mother (Nambogwe Halima), maternal grandmother (Naigaga Hasfa), and siblings (5 brothers and 2 sisters) at my grandmother's home. I am a bright and hardworking girl. At home, I help with various tasks, such as fetching firewood, collecting water, cooking tea, washing utensils, and cleaning the house and compound. My parents are separated, and my father does not provide financial support. My mother and grandmother are peasant farmers who grow crops like corn, pinto beans, and cassava (a root tuber), but only for home consumption. My mother is also a casual laborer and works in other people’s gardens. She can dig from morning until lunchtime for three days and earn 10,000 shillings ($2.86). This money is used to cover our basic needs and send us to school, but it is not enough. This is why I am seeking a sponsor to help me continue my education.
