My Story

My Home Life:

I am a twin living in Ishongororo village with my mother, father and siblings. My mother’s name is Zamukunda Robina and my father’s name is Ndungutse Ernest. I like going to school and I am a bright student who is always in the top 3 in my class.

My responsibilities at home are fetching firewood, gardening, fetching water from the well, washing utensils and, cleaning the house and compound.

My father is a Reverend at one of the churches in Ishongororo. My mother has some serious intestine complication/disease which does not allow her to do a lot of casual work to help out our family. My parents are both peasant farmers who grow crop like maize (corn), pinto beans, sweet potatoes and cassava (root tuber) in our garden for both home consumption and to sell. They can for example harvest two bags of maize (corn), each bag weighing 100kgs, sells one bag at UGX. 50,000/= leaving one bag for home consumption. My parents also grow and harvest two bags of beans each bag weighing 100kgs out of the entire season, sells one bag at UGX. 50,000/= and also leave the other bag for home consumption as we wait for the next season. The rest of the crops grown are for only home consumption.

My parents work so hard to grow crops in our home garden for both home consumption and to sell but the money they earn out of selling some of our yields is not enough to even pay for basic needs at home which is why I need a sponsor so that I can continue going to school.
