My Story

**Edirisa is the 4th born in his family living with his Mother, siblings and maternal Grandmother in a one living room and one-bedroom house that belongs to his Grandmother.** **His Parents separated in 2017 and the Father does not send them any financial support. The Mother is a casual laborer who digs for others. If she digs for one week, for example, she can earn UGX.10000 ($2.85). She also grows crops such as maize, pinto beans, sweet and cassava (root tuber) in their home garden for both home consumption and to sell. She can for example harvest two bags of beans each weighing 100kgs and sell one bag at UGX.50000 ($14.29) leaving the other bag for home consumption, harvest two bags of corn (maize) each bag weighing 100kgs out of the entire season, sell one bag at UGX.50000 ($14.29) and leave the other bag for home consumption.** **The money Edirisa’s mother earns from casual laboring and selling some of their yields is used to pay for their basic needs at home and also send the kids to school but it’s not enough hence needing help with her child’s education.**
