AN INTRODUCTION TO JOVAN
I live in Makota Village with my parents, Nabirye
Kamuyati and Talikunza Grace, in a small home with one
bedroom and one living room. I am the fourth-born of six
children, with four brothers and two sisters.
At home, I help my parents by washing dishes, collecting
water from the borehole, working in the garden, and
cleaning the house and compound. My parents are
peasant farmers who grow maize, pinto beans, cassava,
sweet potatoes, and groundnuts, mainly for our family’s
consumption. My father also earns money through casual
labor, including quarry work. After one to two months of
hard work, he earns about $11.50 from selling stones, of
which $1.50 goes to the landowner.
Despite our financial struggles, I remain hardworking and
committed to my education. I believe education can help
me achieve my dreams and build a brighter future for
myself and my family. I humbly ask for your support to
help me stay in school and work toward a better future.
