My Story

AN INTRODUCTION TO PRISCILLA
I live in Makota Village with my mother, Nankwanga
Ruth, in a small home with one bedroom and one living
room. I am the fifth-born of six children, with one sister
and four brothers. My parents are separated, and my
father does not provide financial support for our family.
At home, I help my mother by washing dishes, collecting
water from the borehole, working in the garden, and
cleaning the house and compound. My mother earns a
living as a casual laborer in other people’s gardens. She
works from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for about a week,
earning only $4.30. We also have a small garden where
we grow maize, sweet potatoes, pinto beans, groundnuts,
and cassava, mainly for our family’s consumption.
Despite our financial challenges, I remain hardworking,
determined, and committed to my education. I believe
education can help me build a better future and
improve my family’s circumstances. I humbly ask for
your support to help me stay in school, achieve my
dreams, and create a brighter future for myself and my
family.
