AN INTRODUCTION TO RASHIDA
I live in Makota Village with my parents, Kabaale
Asuman and Namulondo Shamina, and my younger
sister in a single-room rented home that costs $14.30
per month. I am the firstborn of two children.
At home, I help with washing dishes, collecting water
from the borehole, working in the garden, and
cleaning the house and compound. My father works as
a teacher at St. John Lutheran School, earning about
$42.85 per month. My mother is a peasant farmer who
grows maize, pinto beans, sweet potatoes, and
cassava, mainly for our family’s consumption, with
some produce sold to help support our household.
Despite our limited resources, I remain humble,
obedient, and hardworking, with a strong commitment
to my education. I am determined to continue my
studies and work toward a brighter future. I humbly
ask for your support to help me stay in school,
achieve my dreams, and build a better life for myself
and my family.
