My Story

AN INTRODUCTION TO JOY
I live in Makota Village with my siblings and my paternal
aunt, Magoba Veronica, in a small, single-room home. I
am the fourth-born of five children, with one sister and
three brothers. My parents are separated, and my father
struggles with alcohol use and is unemployed. 
At home, I help with washing dishes, collecting water
from the borehole, working in the garden, and cleaning
the house and compound. My mother earns a living as a
casual laborer in other people’s gardens, working from
8:00 a.m. to noon for about a week to earn just $2.90.
Without a garden of her own to grow food, our family
struggles to meet basic needs, including food.
Despite these challenges, I remain hardworking and
determined to continue my education. I believe education
will help me build a better future and improve my
family’s circumstances. I humbly ask for your support to
help me stay in school, pursue my dreams, and create a
brighter future for myself and my family.
