I live in Makota Village with my parents, Nabirye
Phiona and Vicar Mugabi Willy, and my five siblings
—one boy and four girls. I am the fourth-born. We
live together in a small house with one bedroom and
one living room. I help my family by collecting water
and firewood, washing dishes and clothes, cooking,
cleaning, and working in the garden.
My mother makes and sells buns at St. John Lutheran
School. She uses UGX 30,000 as capital and earns
about UGX 10,000 profit each week. During school
breaks, she sells them around the village. My father
is a vicar studying to become a pastor and helps with
garden work during his breaks. We grow corn, beans,
sweet potatoes, groundnuts, and cassava mainly for
family consumption.
Although supporting our family is difficult because
of our limited income and many children, I remain
hardworking and determined to continue my
education and build a better future for my family.
