My Story

I live in Makota Village with my parents, Makoma Hamuza
(father) and Nabirye Janet (mother), and my siblings in a
three-bedroom house with one living room. I am the sixth
born in a family of six children, consisting of three boys
and three girls.
At home, I help with various household responsibilities,
including washing dishes, collecting water from the
borehole, gathering firewood for cooking, doing laundry,
working in the garden, cooking, and keeping our house
and compound clean.
Both of my parents are peasant farmers who grow crops
such as maize, coffee, beans, and sweet potatoes for both
home consumption and sale. On average, our family
harvests about three bags of maize, with each bag selling
for approximately UGX 80,000 ($20.45). Coffee beans sell
for about UGX 60,000 ($15.34) per bag. However, the
income from farming is limited and is mainly used to meet
our family’s basic needs, making it difficult for my parents
to afford my educational expenses.
I am a well-behaved, disciplined, and hardworking girl who
is committed to my studies and determined to build a
better future. I am grateful for any support that would
help me continue my education and achieve my goals
