My Story

I live in Makota Village with my mother, Mbeiza Olivia, my stepfather, and my half-sister. I am the oldest child in a family of two children. We all live in a house with a living room, one bedroom, and a store. I help out at home by doing dishes, collecting water from the borehole, collecting firewood for cooking, doing laundry, doing garden work, cooking, and cleaning both our house and compound. My stepfather works at an abattoir and earns UGX 2,000 ($0.51) for every goat he slaughters. My mother is a peasant farmer who grows maize (corn), pinto beans, cassava, and groundnuts on rented land, for both our family’s consumption and for sale. Our family income is very limited, making it difficult to meet my educational needs and our basic needs at home. Despite of our financial challenges, I am determined to continue with my education and work hard to achieve my goals. That is why I am seeking educational support to help me remain in school and build a better future for myself and my family.
