My Story

I am the first-born child in my family, and I have a twin brother, Odongo, and one other sibling, making three children in total—two girls and one boy. I live with my parents, my mother, Abbo Jane, and my father, Egessa Ivan. At home, I help with various household responsibilities, including cooking, doing laundry, working in the garden, cleaning the house and compound, washing dishes, collecting firewood for cooking, and fetching water from the well. My parents are peasant farmers who grow beans, maize, and cassava, mainly for our family's consumption. They sell a small portion of the harvest to help meet our household needs. Sometimes, my father also works as a boda-boda rider to supplement our family income. However, the money my father earns from this work, together with the income from selling part of our crops, is not enough to meet all our family's basic needs or pay our school fees. That is why I am seeking support to continue my education, remain in school, and work toward achieving my dreams.
