My Story

I am the second-born child in my family, and I have four siblings, all girls. I live with my parents, my mother, Khwaaka Betty, and my father, Mangeni Nelson. At home, I help with various household responsibilities, including collecting firewood, fetching water from the well, working in the garden, doing laundry, washing dishes, and keeping our house and compound clean. My parents are peasant farmers who grow beans, maize, and cassava, mainly for our family's consumption. They sell a small portion of the harvest to help meet our household needs. Sometimes, my father also works as a boda-boda rider to supplement our family income. However, the money my father earns from this work, together with the income from selling part of our crops, is not enough to meet all our family's basic needs or pay our school fees. That is why I am seeking support to continue my education, remain in school, and work toward achieving my dreams in life.
