My Story

My Home Life: I am the second-born child in my family. I have two siblings, both girls, who are living with other relatives. I live with my uncle, Mugumba Sande, and his family.

At home, I help with household responsibilities such as cooking, doing laundry, cleaning our house and compound, washing dishes, and collecting both firewood for cooking and water from the borehole.

My father passed away from an unknown illness in 2021, and my mother’s whereabouts have been unknown since then. Following these circumstances, my uncle took me into his care.

My uncle and his wife earn a living by buying and reselling groceries such as cabbages, avocados, tomatoes, and leafy vegetables from local farmers. They operate the business with a capital of about UGX 300,000 and earn a profit of approximately UGX 20,000 (about $5.71) per week. They also grow crops such as maize, sweet potatoes, pinto beans, and cassava for both home consumption and sale.
