My Story

My Home Life: I am the second-born child in my family, with three siblings, all of whom are girls. We live with both of our parents, Kisubi Fred (father) and Nakirya Juliet (mother).

At home, I help with household responsibilities such as cleaning our house and compound, washing dishes, and collecting both firewood for cooking and water from the borehole.

Both of my parents are peasant farmers. They grow crops such as maize, sweet potatoes, pinto beans, and cassava for both home consumption and sale. For example, they may harvest three bags of maize, each weighing about 100 kilograms, and sell one bag for approximately UGX 60,000 (about $17.14) after a four-month growing season, while keeping the remaining two bags for family consumption until the next harvest.

My parents also grow coffee. In a year with two harvest seasons, they can produce about 200 kilograms of coffee beans and sell them for between UGX 2,500 and UGX 4,000 per kilogram, depending on market prices.

Despite their hard work, the income earned from farming is not enough to meet all our basic needs and pay school fees for me and my siblings. For this reason, I am seeking sponsorship to continue my education and achieve my dreams for a better future.
