My Story

My Home Life: I am the first-born child in my family, with three siblings, all of whom are girls. We live with our father and our paternal grandmother, Kafuko Ziriat.

At home, I help with household responsibilities such as washing utensils, fetching water from the borehole, and assisting my older sister with cooking.

My parents separated, and my mother remarried. We rarely hear from her. My father is often away from home, so it is mainly my grandmother who takes care of us.

Both my father and grandmother are peasant farmers. They grow crops such as maize, pinto beans, sweet potatoes, and cassava, mainly for home consumption and occasionally for sale. The income they earn depends on the success of each farming season and is often limited.
