Hearts & Hope
My Home Life:
I am the third-born child in my family, with three siblings—two boys and one girl. We live with our mother, Nakiyuuka Jumia, and a cousin sister.
At home, I help with household responsibilities such as washing clothes, cleaning our house and compound, washing dishes, and collecting both firewood for cooking and water from the borehole.
My parents separated, and my father does not provide any financial support. My mother runs a small drug shop (pharmacy) in our trading center with a capital of about UGX 300,000. From the profit she earns, she is able to pay rent for our four-room house at UGX 50,000 (about $14.29) per month. She also takes care of my late aunt’s child.
However, the income from her business is not enough to meet all our basic needs or pay school fees for me, my cousin, and my siblings. For this reason, I am seeking sponsorship to continue my education and achieve my dreams for a better future.
