My Story

My Home Life: I am the third-born child in my family, with four siblings, all of whom are boys. My siblings live with other relatives, while I live with my maternal grandmother, Nangobi Jane, together with five other grandchildren.

At home, I help with household responsibilities such as washing my own clothes, cleaning the house and compound, washing dishes, and collecting both firewood for cooking and water from the borehole.

My mother passed away in 2021 due to cervical cancer, and my father died in 2015 from an unknown cause. After their deaths, I was taken in by my grandmother. She previously did casual work in people’s gardens to earn income, but she is no longer able to work due to old age and back problems.

My grandmother is now a peasant farmer who grows crops such as maize, sweet potatoes, pinto beans, and cassava over a farming season of about four months. These crops are mainly used for home consumption, with only a small portion sold. Occasionally, other family members also send small financial support whenever they are able.

However, the income from farming and occasional support is not enough to meet all our basic needs or pay school fees for me and the other grandchildren under her care. For this reason, I am seeking sponsorship to continue my education and achieve my dreams for a better future.
