My Story

My Home Life: I am the firstborn in my family, with four siblings—one girl and three boys—who are currently living with my grandmother. I was taken in by my maternal aunt, Naigaga Olivia, and her husband after my mother passed away in 2022 from cervical cancer. My father later abandoned us, and his whereabouts are unknown.

At home, I help with household responsibilities such as cooking, washing clothes, working in the garden, cleaning our house and compound, washing dishes, and collecting both firewood for cooking and water from the borehole.

My aunt is a peasant farmer who grows food crops on a rented piece of land. The rent is UGX 100,000 (about $28.57) per acre per year. On this land, she grows crops such as maize, sweet potatoes, pinto beans, and cassava, which are used both for home consumption and for sale after a farming season of about six months.

The income my aunt earns from farming is not enough to meet all our basic needs and pay school fees for me and her children. Despite her hard work, it remains difficult to support the family financially. For this reason, I am seeking sponsorship to continue my education and achieve my dreams for a better future.
