My Story

My Home Life: I am the fourth-born child in my family. I have three half-siblings—two boys and one girl—who live with my father and stepmother. At home, I help with many household chores, including cooking, washing clothes, gardening, cleaning our house and compound, washing dishes, and collecting firewood for cooking and water from the borehole.

My parents separated when I was young, and after their separation, I was sent to live with my paternal grandmother, Bakamaze Edith. We live in a house that belongs to someone who left our village in search of better opportunities elsewhere. My mother's whereabouts are unknown, and my father left our village and started another family. He does not provide any financial support for me.

My grandmother is a pastor at an evangelical church in our community. We do not own any land to grow our own food, so we depend on the kindness of people in our church and community, who sometimes provide us with food and occasional financial assistance. My grandmother uses this support to help pay my school fees and provide basic necessities such as soap and salt.

Despite her hard work and dedication, my grandmother is not able to provide the extra money for me to attend school.
