Hearts & Hope
My Home Life: I am the fifth-born in my family, with six siblings—two girls and four boys. We live with both our parents, though our father is rarely at home. My father’s name is Wambuzi Rashid, and my mother’s name is Kyakuwaire Hamidah. At home, I help by cleaning the house and compound, collecting water from the borehole, gathering firewood for cooking, and washing dishes.
My mother has high blood pressure, which caused a stroke and left her paralyzed on her right side. My father has another family where he spends most of his time. He works repairing bicycles in Iganga, but he barely makes enough to meet his daily needs, as he has to divide his income between two families. He sends us the little money he earns whenever he can and visits occasionally.
The money my father sends is too little to cover all our basic needs and school fees. That is why I need a sponsor to continue my education and become an important person in society.
