My Story

My Home Life: My name is Lovina, and I live in Nalwire village with my parents—my father, Sando Ronald, and my mother, Auma Benta. We live in two grass-thatched houses, each with two rooms. I have six siblings—two sisters and four brothers—and I am the third born in the family.

At home, my responsibilities include doing garden work, caring for my younger siblings, fetching firewood, collecting water from the borehole, washing utensils, cooking, and cleaning the house and compound.

My parents work very hard as peasant farmers. My father also sometimes works as a casual laborer in other people's gardens to try and earn some extra income. However, they can only afford to meet a few of our basic needs. I often struggle with school fees and am regularly sent home for not being able to pay. That is why I am in need of educational support—to stay in school and work towards achieving my dream.
