Hearts & Hope
My Home Life: I live in a one-bedroom brick house in Kiwolera village with my father, Mugere Bernard, and my mother, Naigaga Mariam. I am the youngest of three children—I have one sister and one brother. At home, my responsibilities include fetching firewood, collecting water from the well, washing utensils, and cleaning the house and compound.
My parents are peasant farmers who grow food mainly for home consumption, which helps feed our family. They cultivate crops such as cassava, vegetables, matooke, and maize. After harvesting, the maize is taken to a grain mill to produce maize flour, which we use to make porridge and posho. This food sustains us for several months until the next harvest.
However, my parents lack a stable source of income to cover other basic needs and to pay for school fees. I am therefore in need of educational support to continue my studies.
