My Story

My Home Life: My Name is Nakyoni Salama I am the aunt of Naigaga Shifurah, and we live together in a one-bedroom brick house in Makoota village. Shifurah is the youngest of seven children—four sisters and two brothers. At home, she helps with daily chores, including collecting water from the well, washing utensils, and cleaning the house and compound.

Her father was a truck driver who tragically died in a car accident while delivering cement to a company in eastern Uganda. Upon hearing the devastating news, her mother collapsed from shock and sadly passed away as well. We were heartbroken to have to bury both of them.

Since then, I have taken in my late brother’s children. Together, we cultivate a small garden to grow food for our household. I have no stable source of income, as I stay home to care for the children and my 7-month-old daughter. Unfortunately, my boyfriend left us, saying the burden was too heavy for him.

I am now struggling to provide basic necessities, pay rent, and support the children’s education. That is why I am seeking educational support to give them a chance at a better future.
