My Story

My Home Life: I live in a one-bedroom brick house in Butangala village with my aunt, Nabirye Fatumah. I am an only child. At home, my responsibilities include fetching firewood, collecting water from the well, washing utensils, and cleaning both the house and compound.

I lost both of my parents—my father died of HIV when my mother was seven months pregnant, and my mother passed away while giving birth to me. Since then, I have been raised by my aunt, who is my mother’s sister. She has given me love and care, just like any child would wish for. She even shows me photos of my late mother, and since I resemble her, it makes me feel as though I’m living with my real mom. I truly see my mother in her.

My aunt is a peasant farmer who grows food for home consumption. She is a single mother of four children—my cousins—and has no stable income to support our education or meet our basic needs. For me to continue my education and pursue my dreams, I am in need of sponsorship and educational support.
