Hearts & Hope
My Home Life: I am the fourth-born in my family, living in Kiboyo village with my maternal aunt, Namusisi Mastisura, her husband, and three of their children. We live in a house with one living room and two bedrooms.
At home, I help by collecting firewood, fetching water from the well, washing dishes, and keeping our house and compound clean.
After my mother passed away while giving birth to me, my siblings (one brother and two sisters) stayed with my father, while I was sent to live with my aunt. My aunt is a school bursar at Kiboyo Lutheran and earns 350,000 shillings ($100.00) per month. My father is a peasant farmer and doesn’t make enough money to regularly support my aunt in taking care of me while also providing for my siblings' needs. Even the little money my father sends barely covers my basic needs.
The money my aunt earns and what my father sends is used to cover our basic needs and pay for my school fees, along with those of my cousins (my aunt's children). However, this is not enough to sustain our education.
