Hearts & Hope
My Home Life: I am the fifth born in my family, living in Kiboyo village with my parents, Waiswa Edward and Nantale Saidha, along with my brother and three sisters. We live in a house with two bedrooms and one living room.
At home, I help by collecting firewood, fetching water from the well, washing utensils, and keeping our house and compound clean. My father works hard as a casual laborer, building at construction sites. However, work is inconsistent, and it can take one to two months before he gets called for a job. When he does, he earns 25,000 shillings per day.
My parents are also peasant farmers, growing crops such as corn, pinto beans, cassava, and groundnuts for both home consumption and sale. In a season, they can harvest 100 kilograms of corn, selling 60 kilograms for 30,000 shillings ($8.57) and keeping the rest for food.
Despite their efforts, the income from farming and casual labor is not enough to cover all our basic needs and school fees. That is why I am seeking support to continue my education and achieve my dreams.
