In our brief time on this planet, we often face obstacles that feel like immovable mountains. Between the weight of economic strain, the noise of politics, and the delicate balance of our personal lives, the world can feel heavy. When we add the relentless presence of an online world designed to keep us tethered to worst-case scenarios, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. In those quiet, weary moments, a question begins to echo: Why even try?

That same weight can settle in when we look at the work being done in Uganda. Facing the sheer scale of material poverty, there are days when the effort feels like a drop in the ocean. But then, you see it.

You see a mother gathering clean water from a newly installed well, knowing her family’s daily reality has been fundamentally shifted by a single, simple resource. You see a student who can finally see the chalkboard after a successful eye surgery—an impact so profound it changes the entire trajectory of their life.

The words attributed to Mother Teresa’s "Anyway" poem serve as a powerful compass for our mission.

In Uganda, teachers show up to classrooms despite limited resources; students study by candlelight; and sponsors 8,000 miles away come together to care for children they’ve never met. We don’t build schools because it is easy; we build them because it is right. We continue our commitment to these villages not because the path is clear, but because the call to love one another is louder than the noise of the obstacles. This year, we invite you to join us in this quiet defiance—to love, to build, and to hope… anyway.
