My Story

My Home Life: I am the fifth-born in my family and live with my four siblings—two boys and two girls—as well as my maternal grandfather, Kibumba Nathan, my mother, and other grandchildren.

At home, I help with chores such as collecting firewood, fetching water from the well, washing dishes, doing garden work, and keeping our house and compound clean.

Our parents separated, and our father abandoned us without any trace or communication since then. My mother is rarely at home, as she moves between villages and towns doing casual work, such as collecting firewood for small local restaurants, cutting grass for cattle, and helping with farm work.

My grandfather also does casual labor in our village. For example, he can work in someone’s garden from morning until noon for a whole week and earn just 10,000 shillings (about $2.86). The money he earns, along with the little my mother sends or brings home, is used to provide for all our basic needs and school fees. However, it is not nearly enough. That is why I am kindly seeking your support—to help me stay in school and pursue my dreams for a better future.
