Kainhogoga Primary School
Hearts & Hope
I live in Kainhogoga village with my maternal Grandmother, two siblings and other Grandchildren. My Grandmother’s name is Naikote, Florence.
My responsibilities at home are fetching firewood, fetching water from the well, washing utensils and cleaning the house and compound. My Mother got pregnant with me when she was still a teenager and dropped out of school. My father denied his responsibility and his whereabouts are unknown. My mother is currently staying at her Grandmother’s (my great Grandmother) in another village where she has work as a casual laborer but the work is seasonal & doesn’t pay much. My grandmother works so hard as a casual laborer; she digs in other people’s gardens. She also has a sewing machine she uses to mend people’s clothes in our village for money, but the money she earns is not enough to pay for basic needs at home or even pay for medical bills for two of my grandmother’s children with mental illnesses. This is why I need a sponsor so that I can continue going to school.
